‘Found” You!

I can’t really say that I “found” it.

I would love to say that I was all geared up and looking through the woods and found it – on purpose! Here’s the thing .. most of what I find is a complete accident. Just like this. I was in full house cleaning mode and on such an amazing warm day my bathroom rugs were screaming to be left outside for a while. I took them out onto our deck, gave them a little shake and hung them on the railing. And that’s when I spotted him. Small, cute and hidden behind a planter box – like nothing I had ever seen before. An amazing little Grey Tree Frog! I had no idea what it was and will admit that I didn’t even take the time to look it up. I took some pictures and sent them to my coworker and amphibian extraordinaire. She of course sent me the ID.

She says they have a bright orange inner thigh and large sticky toepads. I 100 % absolutely believe her so there was no need to pick him up to confirm. Considering I am still trying to figure out how he got up ON my deck ( it’s high!) I decided to just enjoy him and let him be. She also says that when they are babies they are the color of lichen and as they get older they turn more into a gray camo color. One other feature that she wanted me to make sure I saw was his elliptical pupil. He was only about 2 inches long so looking at his eyeball was interesting! He stayed there all day long and has since traveled on his way.
